The major tasks for the center is to stimulate the development of science education in the east district area, for instance, to popularize science education activities, to foster young scientists, and to promote the professional development of science teachers.  Our center provides opportunities for science and technology teachers to enhance their professional develop which is also one of the major goals of our center. Meanwhile, the center also cooperates with elementary and junior/senior high school teachers actively. We propose academic research or action research and assist teachers to solve practical teaching problems. For the public science education, the center conducts workshops or activities on topic of science education in order to improve the science literacy for all.

The breakdown of communication between the "two cultures" of modern society — the sciences and the humanities — was a major hindrance to solving the world's problems.(Snow, 1959)To shorten the gap of communication for the two cultures is the center’s ultimate mission.
